The story is very fascinating: it all begins in a small French workshop founded in 1837 in Paris by the saddler Thierry Hermès; here Thierry spends his time making harnesses and ornaments for horses; his first bag with the perforated H was called Eveline, and the small holes were used to make the leather of the transported harnesses take air. Thierry began to introduce among his products also top quality jewelery and equestrian-themed leather goods, which slowly led him to success. The company began to grow and acquire an increasingly large clientele and in 1870 it was moved to 24 Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, the historic headquarters and still the headquarters of the Maison. Few people know that even today it is possible to have soft tailored saddles with Hermes’ logo and racing jackets… if you pass by Avenue de Champs Elysée in Paris, do not miss to enter the wonderful shop and to be told this beautiful story.
