Who among you has never dreamed of taking a gallop on a very long beach? …. well think that in Spain it was right here that horse racing began in the mid-nineteenth century. Initially they were goliardic occasions to challenge each other between horse owners, but today, in Spain, it is a very heartfelt opportunity, and thousands of people of any age and social class, in those days, flock to the beach along the whole straight of over 6561 ft in order to incite the thoroughbreds to their passage. The show begins when the sun begins to set , the heat of Andalusia in August becomes bearable, and the tide goes out. Stages are set up above sand dunes, from which you can admire the galloping horses, on the track bounded between the beach of Bajo de Guía and Las Piletas ..
