United States – Simply perfect: Justify, the winner of the legendary triple crown

Justify , a beautiful chestnut thoroughbred , was the 13th horse in history to win the coveted Triple Crown . He won on this Saturday, June 9, with the last test held at Belmont Park in New York. Discover now all our trips, tours, holidays and horse trekking in the USA. Ridden by 52-year-old jockey Mike Smith and in front of an incredible crowd of 90,000 people, he brilliantly won by a length and ¾, covering the distance of a mile and a half in 2 minutes and 28 seconds ! Its trainer, Bob Baffert, who has understood from the beginning the attitude of the horse, is very proud of it. Fans from all over the world have followed his morning workouts in recent days (broadcast live on all social networks), after its victory on May 5 at the Kentucky Derby and at the Preakness Stakes on May 16. A wonderful horse, which like its 12 predecessors will remain written in the history of champions. But let’s go into the detail of this challenge a little more: the Triple Crown (in full: Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing; the full name is used not to confuse it with other sports) is a very prestigious horse racing sport which consists of three races accessible to racing thoroughbreds up to three years of age. Winning all three is considered to be the greatest career achievement of the participating racehorses.

In the United States the Triple Crown consists of:

  • Kentucky Derby , approximately 1.25 miles (2.01 km) in Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky;
  • Preakness Stakes , over 1.1875 miles (1.91 km) in Pimlico Race Course, Baltimore, Maryland;
  • Belmont Stakes , more than 1.50 miles (2.41 km) in Belmont Park, Elmont, New York.

Triple Crown begins with the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May. Preakness Stables begins two weeks later and the Belmont Stakes is three weeks away from the second game. In the 100-year history of the race, in the United States, only 12 horses (with Justify 13 ) have won the Triple Crown. Here are our winners …
