Central Mexico: Discovering the colonial pueblos 2021
Travel with us to the heart of old colonial Mexico. Our journey will start in the historic city of Guanajuato, the place where the rebellion against the Spanish to gain independence began. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988, it is undoubtedly the perfect starting point for exploring colonial sites, such as Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende. This absolutely unique trek offers a perfect mix of Mexican culture and traditions, exquisite cuisine and breathtaking nature.

Arrival at Guanajuato international airport and self-transfer to the city to the Hacienda El Marques where you will meet your guides for h. 17.00. Transfer to Rancho Colomitos, where we will meet the rest of the staff. Welcome cocktail, typical Mexican dinner with local music in the background. Overnight on the ranch.
Breakfast and knowledge of the horses. We will start our adventure towards Peñafiel; once on the slopes of the Montecillo mountains we will begin the ascent up to 1900 meters, interspersing desert landscapes and vegetation. Ruins of ancient mines dating back to the Spanish era. We will pass by the Cardo River, where we can also swim. Once at our destination we will leave the horses and by means of transport we will be transferred to the center of Guanajuato, a beautiful colonial city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After having breakfast ,we will retrieve the horses and head towards Santa Rosa. Along an ancient track used by caravans, we will meet gold and silver mines, we will pass close to the statue of Cristo Rey del Cibilete, over 20 meters high. In the afternoon we will reach our small mountain hotel.
We are getting ready for another day on the saddle, we will cross an area of incredible biodiversity, to the city of Dolores Hidalgo, with an interesting historic center full of buildings from the Mexican War of Independence. Dinner in a typical Mexican cuisine restaurant. Overnight at Hotel.
Tasty breakfast and departure through the Cactus Valley and a historic property known as “La Erre”. Stop for a picnic lunch in the town of Baron. Continue to Atotonilco and its famous sanctuary, also known as the "Sistine Chapel of Mexico", rich in Baroque-style frescoes that adorn the ceiling. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Departure towards San Miguel through typical plantations, maize and agave, used for the production of tequila. We will enjoy the calm and tranquility of these rural areas. Upon arrival in San Miguel, check in at a small hotel in the center and time to walk around this town and admire its beautiful facades that have made it famous even among film producers.
Last day on the saddle, dedicated to visiting the main places of interest of this town founded in 1542.
We will say goodbye to the horses to drive back to Guanajuato. Free day to visit the city. Last farewell dinner accompanied by the folk music of the Mariachi.
Breakfast and independent transfer to the airport. Possibility of a two-day extension to the city of Leon.

GAIT: FROM 5 TO 8 H PER DAY ON THE SADDLE. Moderate gaits with frequent trots and gallops when the terrain permits. It requires the ability to know how to control the horse in open spaces and a good physical condition.

Overnight stays in mid-range hotels (usually 4 stars), all characteristic and located near the main places of interest.
