PARTICIPANTS: MIN 4 MAX 8
Pick-up at the airport and transfer to the hotel (provided free of charge by the hotel, to be called upon arrival at the airport). Free dinner (20% discount at the hotel) and overnight stay.
Early breakfast and 7.30 am pick-up from the hotel reception and transfer to the start of our trek near Westcliffe, at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, passing through the plains of Pikes Peak and up the Hardscrabble pass where you can get caught in the snow even in summer. These peaks take their name from the red color they take on when illuminated by the morning sun. We will arrive at the base in the middle of the morning and there will be an explanation on how to take care of the horse these days. 4 hours in the saddle to reach the valley where we will camp the first night. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
After having an healthy cowboy breakfast, all ride to South Brush through lush nature and abundant wildlife, especially marmots. An incredible day in the saddle: from the vastness of the San Luis valley to the inaccessible passes. In the afternoon we will reach the place where we will spend the night still under the stars, warmed by the fireplace and a glass of wine.
Breakfast, camp dismantling and departure along the west ridge. Depending on the weather and terrain conditions we will pass by Cotton Lake to camp at Rito Alto Creek, or we will take the lower pass to mount the camp at San Isabel Creek. With a little luck we will see moose, which unlike deer, which are more territorial, are absolutely nomadic and constantly looking for food. Where there are herbivores, there are always predators too… we may perhaps spot jaguars, pumas and brown bears. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
Day dedicated to relaxation or other activities such as hiking, fishing, bird watching. You will enjoy the magnificent nature up close, wonderful wild flowers, mountain lakes. Fantastic dinner under the stars and overnight in a tented camp.
Breakfast, dismantling of the camp and in the saddle to return to our base which we will reach between 4 and 6 in the afternoon. A day in the saddle crowned by breathtaking views of the mountains, on whose peaks very often hawks and eagles circle. Once back at the base, transfer to Colorado Springs airport (plan an evening flight) or to the hotel (night not included). Possibility to extend the stay at Westcliff ranch to enjoy more brisk walks.

If you’ve always believed that westerns were shot in Arizona, you’ve always been wrong: the sets were located in Spain. The town of El Rocio , created to shoot […]
