And yet something shines in the silence. ” Thus, in a nutshell, Antoine de Saint-Exupery tells the desert, an emotion that cannot be told but only experienced … We will ride through the Great Eastern Erg, the central part of the Sahara desert, whose surface is covered for more than 70% from an immense sea of sand, 6 million tons. An extreme territory, characterized by cords of high sand dunes created by the complex winds that blow without stopping.

Arrival at Djerba airport, meeting with our correspondents, ferry to the mainland and transfer to the Chenini oasis in about a couple of hours. Dinner and overnight around the campfire.
Breakfast, assignment of horses and departure to Douiret, an ancient village made up of troglodyte dwellings, visit to the fortified village (ksar) and stop for lunch. Returning to the camp, in the afternoon, we will leave the mare to go by car to visit the village of Chenini, also surmounted by its ksar, which once served as a granary and as a refuge in case of attack. Spectacular for its architecture, the village of Chenini is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Tunisia. Return to the camp in the nearby oasis for dinner and overnight in bivouac under the stars.
We will initially ride through rather mountainous landscapes and then gradually reach more desert areas. Long gallops along the dry river beds and encounters with camels and flocks of sheep. Dinner and overnight in bivouac.
Today on the saddle we will arrive at the majestic dunes of the Eastern Grand Erk, which extends its sea of sand for over 600 km in an east / west direction and 200 km in a north / south direction. In the afternoon we will reach the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, where we can dive into the hot springs. Dinner and overnight in a fixed camp, where we will appreciate a shower and some comfort.
after having breakfast, we will be on th the saddle for a half day on horseback to an ancient French fort built on Roman ruins overlooking the desert as far as the eye can see. Relaxing afternoon to enjoy the hot springs. Dinner and overnight at the fixed camp in the oasis.
Day on the saddle among the magnificent dunes of the Eastern Grand Erk until a stop for lunch at the El Bibane café. In the afternoon we will continue to Jebil where we will have dinner and overnight in bivouac.
After having breakfast ,we will reach Jebil National Park, just 8 km away. With a little luck we will spot some gazelles. Return to the camp for lunch. We say goodbye to our travel companions to return to take the ferry to Djerba. If time permits, visit the Houmt souk. Night and dinner at the hotel in Djerba.
Breakfast and transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Italy or to continue your beach holiday.

HORSES: BERBERI, resistant, it is an excellent horse to travel long distances even at desert temperatures.

ACCOMMODATION:
MOBILE CAMP: Every evening a simple mobile camp will be set up where you will dine and sleep surrounded by nature. A bit of adaptability is required, there is no electricity or running water. The tents are equipped with mattresses but you must bring your own sleeping bag.
KSAR GHILANE OASIS: set in a large palm grove, this permanent camp offers comfort tents with beds and sheets. Reception and masonry services. From a nearby tower it is possible to admire the dune landscape.
HOTEL IN DJERBA: simple hotel of category 3 ***
