In the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia: crossing from Petra to Wadi Rum 2021
A crossing from the beautiful and enigmatic Petra to the Wadi Rum desert, considered among the most beautiful in the world for variety of colors and landscapes. An itinerary for lovers of large spaces, silence and freedom, who are able to face several hours on the saddle at even sustained speeds. An ever-changing landscape: from the cultivated fields surrounding Petra, to the surrounding mountains, to the vastness of the desert.

Pick up from Amman's Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) and transfer to the hotel in Madaba, in the central area of this Christian city (guided city tours on request for a fee). Dinner (before 10pm) and overnight stay in a double room.
Breakfast at the hotel, pick up at h. 8.00 am and transfer of about 2 and a half hours to Petra, where the whole day will be dedicated to visiting the ancient Nabataeans. Guided tour in the morning through the Siq and the ruins, the fascinating UNESCO heritage. Free lunch and afternoon available for relaxation or the discovery of Petra on your own. Dinner in the company of the equestrian guide to show you the program, overnight at the hotel in Petra.
Transfer to the desert and the stables in Wadi Moussa. Here you will meet the rest of the team who will accompany you for the next few days. Saddle up the hills overlooking the city of Petra, overlooking the Jebel Haroun Mountains. For those who want, you can walk up to the place of the "great sacrifice". Picnic lunch before riding to Mount Taybeh where the camp will be set up for the night. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp (we recommend that you bring your own sleeping bag).
On the saddle towards the ancient village of Rajif from which we will admire the desert. Picnic lunch in the shade of a garden and then continue along the "Silk Road", an ancient caravan route used for trade. Long gallops will take us to Ber Hamad, where we will stop for the note. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
After having breakfast, departure along the slopes that connected Wadi Sabra and Petra. The day will be very diversified, hills up to the gateway to the desert "bab el Sahara", with a clear day we will have a view of the peaks up to 1800 meters high. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
We will ride east, passing canyons and always following the ancient silk road. We will pass by the ancient village of Thogra and cross the main road between Amman and Aqaba that goes all the way to Saudi Arabia. In the afternoon, after a stop for lunch, we will be able to admire the rocky peaks of Wadi Rum and the rock arch of Karazeh. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
On the saddle towards Madaba. We will see the famous inscriptions of the Thamudic and Nabatean peoples from centuries ago. We will continue in a southerly direction, passing through the agricultural village of Chakira, and after a stop for lunch, through the French fortress built in the desert; we will end with Wadi Um Ishrin, a wide valley near Jabel Um Ishrine and its beautiful sand dunes. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
Last day on the saddle through the beautiful Um Ishrin valley. We will then say goodbye to the horses, transfer by vehicle to Aqaba (in spring and summer we will finish the ride early to be able to have the afternoon free for some snorkeling in the Red Sea). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day of relaxation: after having breakfast, transfer for a day of relaxation to the Dead Sea with its wonderful landscapes. Transfer to Madaba in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (possibility of extending the stay at the Dead Sea).
After having breakfast, transfer to the airport in time for the flight to Italy.

GAIT: 6 TO 8 HOURS PER DAY IN THE SADDLE. A good physical condition and the ability to know how to control the horse in open spaces and to sustain long gallops and trots are required. The use of a safety helmet is mandatory.
