Krisuvik and The Blue Lagoon 2021
A tour that offers great views of this land: try south, with its glaciers, then Reykjanes, Reykjavík to Snæfellsnes. We will begin our adventure in Vellir, following one of the country’s main waterways, the Ölfusá River. Then again we will discover the mythical church of Strandarkirkja, the starting point to continue on the beach to Krýsuvík, where we will admire the beautiful contrasts between the sand and the black landscape of ancient lava. And finally we will visit the beautiful Blue Lagoon, where we can relax in the warm thermal waters that emerge spontaneously.

Arrange for an autonomous transfer from the airport to the terminus of the BSI station in the capital (flight bus service). The meeting with the guides will take place at 5.30 pm (at the bus station or the hotel for those arriving the day before). Transfer to the farm in Vellir where we will settle at the Guesthouse Eldhestar. Dinner with the guides and overnight.
After having breakfast we will meet the horses .after having lunch,we will be on the saddle to travel about 17 km (about 5 hours in the saddle) through green meadows and the Ölfusforir bird sanctuary. We will ride in the marshy area of the Ölfusá delta, and from there we will return to the farm. Dinner and overnight in a guest house.
Breakfast and transfer by means of horses and people to the Strandarkirkja church, which is located right on the shore, the starting point of our trek today (about 8 hours in the saddle). We will continue for a while along the beach and then turn inwards and the black mountains from the lava. We will pass Lake Kleifarvatn to then reach Krýsuvík with its hot springs. We will leave the horses here and by car we will go to Isólfsskáli, where we will spend the night, for this night and the next, in a delightful guest house on the beach. We will go to the famous Blue Lagoon, just 20 minutes by car.
After having breakfast ,we will go by car to retrieve the horses that await us in Krýsuvík. We will first visit the geothermal area of Seltún with its magnificent colors, we will go to the summit of Mount Sveifluháls and then descend on the other side and take the road to Vigdisarvellir, a green oasis among the lava mountains. From there we will continue with the horses to Isólfsskáli. Dinner and overnight in a guest house.
Last day on the saddle, we will start from the coast to reach the mountainous landscapes again, alternating landscapes of green vegetation and black lava. Beautiful views of the glaciers of the southern part of Iceland. Lunch in Krýsuvíkurberg surrounded by a myriad of birds and then return to Krýsuvík where we will leave the horses and the bus awaits us to take us back to the capital. Consider a flight that restarts in the evening or choose to extend your stay to visit the capital.

EQUIPMENT: ICELANDIC FITTINGS AND FINISHES
HORSES: ICELANDIANS, this strong horse is the original “Viking”, its existence has been known since the 19th century and its collaboration has allowed humans to settle in this territory. Breed with peculiar characteristics, such as its half stature, the long and thick mane and its particular “ambiata” gait, very fast. This horse despite having a wild spirit, also given by still living in the wild today, is able to establish a friendship and complicity with its rider, unique in the world.
GAIT / MOVEMENT: 4 to 6 hours on the saddle. Moderate gaits with long trots (amble). You will experience the unique experience of riding accompanied by the herd.
TYPE : itinerant with overnight stay in local farms / guest houses
ACCOMMODATION:
The first 2 nights will be at Guesthous Eldhestar, a simple structure with shared facilities. (Possibility of having a higher category hotel with supplement).
The 3rd and 4th nights will be in guest houses, local farms or shelters where there will be shared dormitories. It is necessary to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow and be willing to adapt to washing with cold water.
