Mozambique: Unexplored Paradise 2021
Mozambique is a wonderful country whose beauties are still unknown to many people. With this trip, you will discover a paradise that you will hardly forget: dozens and dozens of kilometers of absolutely deserted sandy beaches facing the Bazaruto archipelago. You will spend the night in a delightful lodge on the beach, the starting point for long gallops in a breathtaking scenery.

Pick-up at the airport and short transfer to the lodge. In the afternoon, horseback riding along the beach for a couple of hours to get to know and become familiar with the horse that will be assigned to you. Fish dinner under the stars and overnight at the lodge.
After having breakfast, we will get on the saddle to go inland;crossing the lush vegetation, lakes and the surrounding small villages. You will be able to observe an incredible amount of birds as we gallop along the sandy paths. We will pass the ruins of an old Portuguese estate until we arrive at the Govuro River, where we will stop for a picnic. The horses will be brought home while we will canoe down the river, surrounded by lush greenery. Barbecue on the beach and overnight at the lodge.
Saddle up early to enjoy the deserted beach and watch the local fishermen at work. The morning will end at Casa Rex, the most exclusive resort in Vilankulos, where we will stop for breakfast. We will then go to the village market, vibrant full of colors and sounds. Return to the lodge for lunch and free afternoon for relaxing in the pool or other activities such as fishing and diving (for a fee). Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
We will leave early with a local motor boat for the island of Benguerra: the best known of the Bazaruto archipelago. Breakfast on board. Horses are waiting for us on the island, characterized by high sand dunes, lakes and white sand beaches in a unique ecosystem. Once back on board, a fish-based lunch on the boat will be served and we will reach Margaruque for some snorkeling (masks and fins provided). Return to Vilankulo and the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.

ACCOMMODATION: lodge
EQUIPMENT: English or South African Mc Clellan saddles, very comfortable, invented by the officer George Mc Clellan and used during the civil war in the USA since 1859. Still in use today, they have the peculiarity of being able to adapt to any horse. Particularly light and comfortable, they are perfect for spending several hours on the saddle.
HORSES: Thoroughbreds or Anglo Arabs trained with English or Western commands. There are 37 specimens, mostly rescued from farms in Zimbabwe during the period of political strife. It will not be difficult to find the most suitable for you.
GAIT: about 4H IN THE SADDLE. These itineraries are suitable for riders of any equestrian level. The gaits will therefore be based on the ability of the group. Possibility of long gallops on the beach.

ACCOMMODATION:
4 nights at the beautiful and exclusive Vila De Sonhos lodge. Luxurious bungalows directly on the beach overlooking the Bazaruto archipelago. Immersed in tropical vegetation and in a baobab garden, they are built of natural materials with large verandas, rooms (occupancy max 3 people) equipped with TV, mini bar, kitchenette and microwave. Swimming pool, dining room, common room with billiards and board games.
Varied cuisine of typical meat and fish dishes, where the Portuguese influence is noted. Drinks, wine and local beer included. Possibility of vegetarian but not vegan cuisine or for celiacs.
Note: The program described above is to be considered indicative and may be subject to changes or cancellations of the excursions due to the tides. It is possible to continue your stay in Vilankulos or we suggest a flight to Pemba to admire the beautiful Quirimbas archipelago. Or even take advantage of the proximity to South Africa to combine a few days in the Kruger.
