Normandy: Mont Saint Michel & the landing beach 2021
On the saddle to discover the Normandy of the Vikings, the first dukes, its medieval abbeys and the famous landing beach! And then again… .. Mont-Saint-Michel, theater of the greatest tides in continental Europe. French people call it “la vague”, you see it coming from afar, slow but inexorable to cover the beach and the bay from which rises the rocky islet. Il Mont and its bay have been classified in the Unesco world heritage since 1979.

Plan a flight to Dinard (DNR) about 30 km from the town of Bayeux, accessible by train. With a short taxi transfer you can reach your 4-star hotel for dinner with the rest of the group and overnight.
After having breakfast, horses are assigned and everyone will ride for a walk of about two hours through the hills to the old town of Creully. Visit to the medieval castle and the 13th century church of Saint Martin. Stop for lunch and in the afternoon another two hours in the saddle through the countryside to Bayeux, medieval citizens of the 18th century. Dinner and overnight at Bayeux Castle.
Visit to Bayeux Cathedral and its famous 11th century tapestry and considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon two hours on the saddle through the countryside to arrive at Arromanches and its famous port of Mulberry. If not too crowded we can take a long gallop on the beach. Dinner and overnight at the La Marine hotel, with a beautiful view of the sea.
After having breakfast, on the saddle for about two and a half hours through the countryside and at times along the seafront. We will see the remains of soldiers from World War II. Lunch in Bessin and in the afternoon still riding for about two hours along the beautiful Omaha beach. Visit the American Military Cemetery or the Overlord Museum. We will leave the horses and with the means we will go to Chateau de la Roque in Saint Lo. Dinner and overnight.
Also this morning two hours in the saddle along the La Vire river towards the Haras de Saint Lo stud farm, home of the famous Selle français horse. Guided tour of the stables and in the afternoon another two hours on the saddle along the river to the Roque castle. Transfer by public transport to the Brion Manor, a historic building, an ancient Benedictine convent from the 11th century located in the bay of Mont Saint Michel. Dinner and overnight at the manor.
Today 5 hours in the saddle to discover the beautiful bay of Mont Saint Michel. Lunch in a typical creperie. Dinner and overnight at the manor.
After breakfast, departure independently for Avranches or Rennes station.
