Patagonia: Torres del Paine Natural Park 2021
A fantastic riding adventure that takes place mainly in the famous Torres del Paine National Park and its unique scenarios in the world. A unique combination to experience Patagonia in contact with the locals, with their culture and tradition without neglecting the comfort of the typical accommodations proposed. We offer a diversity of landscapes and panoramas crossing the National Park from south to north: from lush vegetation to pampas, forests, mountains and valleys, without forgetting the unique view of the Gray Glacier that you will remember for a lifetime.

Pick-up from Punta Arenas international airport, President Carlos Ibanez del Campo (PUQ) for h. 3.00 pm (or from your hotel in the center if you were already there by 2.30 pm) and transfer of about 2 and a half hours to Puerto Natales (also check flights to Puerto Natales airport). Check in at the Hotel El Establo (or similar), meeting with the guide for dinner and breef. Overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast and transfer of about 20 minutes to Estancia Perales, where the criollos horses are waiting for us to start our adventure. we will be on the saddle for a lots of hours in this first day, riding through the Magallanic forest. In the afternoon, relax beside the waters of Last Hope sound. Dinner and overnight at the estancia.
After having a healhty breakfast we will board a boat from a nearby pier and enter the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park, between the Magallanes and Aysen regions, the largest in all of Chile. This park measures over 3 million hectares, accessible only by boat, it represents one of the most remote and unexplored corners of the planet, and contains the third mass of ice in the world after Antarctica and Greenland. Once disembarked, the view of the snow-capped peaks and vegetation will leave you breathless. After another short crossing in a rubber boat we will arrive at the meeting point with the horses. Lunch before setting off for about 8 hours on the saddle through pristine vegetation at the base of the Chacabuco and Balmaceda peaks. In the afternoon we will cross the nutria river to find ourselves in the pampas and the beginning of the Torres del Paine National Park. Dinner and overnight at Hotel del Paine, small and comfortable, with an incredible view of the massif.
Breakfast and riding to the vault of Lago Grigio, along the river of the same name, towered by the imposing and famous massif. Once you arrive, you will find yourself in front of a surreal landscape, with blocks of blue ice detached from the Gray glacier, with its 28 km long and 35 high, covering an area of 270 square km. Picnic lunch on the shores of the lake and then back on the saddle to return to Hotel Del Paine. (6 hours in the saddle - optional the boat USD 140,which can be used in order to reduce the hours in the saddle from 6 to 3 - to be agreed on site).
We are preparing to leave the hotel and get on the saddle in an easterly direction, towards the heart of the park and the massif. We will pass blue lakes where we will stop for a picnic lunch to continue in the afternoon in the soft pampas of the Patagonian steppe where the ground will also allow some gallop up to the Amarga Lagoon. Here we will leave the horses, after 5-6 hours spent on the saddle and by public transport we will reach the Estancia Tercera Barranca, a real estancia that extends for 6454 hectares, and where they still raise sheep today. Dinner and overnight at the estancia.
After having breakfast we will ride north-east, near the border with Argentina, where there will also be the possibility of galloping to Estancia Gemita. We will follow the Chinas Valley until we reach the beautiful waterfalls of the same name, where we will stop for lunch. We will then resume crossing the Las Chinas river to return to Tercera Barranca for dinner and overnight.
After having breakfast ,we move by public transport to Estancia Cerro Guido, from the 11,000 hectares estate and over 40,000 head of cattle including sheep, cows and horses. Here other horses are just waiting for us to continue our tour. From here we will go into the mountains of the Sierra Baguales. After having lunch we will pass by an ancient “chenke” cemetery of which now nothing remains. Return to the estancia in the afternoon, dinner and overnight. (About 5-6 hours in the saddle).
Breakfast and departure for another long day on the saddle of about 8 hours. We will move towards the south, where the landscape will be characterized mainly by wide plains, ancient routes of the pioneers, also suitable for long gallops. After a picnic lunch we will ride along the shores of Lake Sarmiento, then we will pass by Lake Flemingo to return to the warm Cerro Guido estancia.
Last day on the saddle for the Baguales mountains from which we will have an incredible view of the glaciers. We will leave from Paso Guitarra, picnic lunch in a valley and in the afternoon we will continue to Vega Nash, "vega" is how the pampas are typically called in this area. Last night at the Estancia Cerro Guido.
After having breakfast, transfer to Punta Arenas international airport, where we will arrive around 12.30 (so plan a flight in the afternoon).

EQUIPMENT: CREAOLA SADDLE, typical Chilean, is called Avios. Made specifically for long journeys, it is covered with a comfortable wool padding.
HORSES: CRIOLLO, very robust and suitable for mountainous terrain
GAIT: up to 8 hours a day in the saddle. Moderate speed with mostly mountainous terrain, although there will be no lack of galloping where the terrain allows. A good physical condition is required to endure the long days on the saddle.

ESTANCIA TERCERA BARRANCA : is located on the edge of the National Park, in an area of 6454 hectares. Dedicated to sheep breeding, it offers its guests 7 comfortable rooms with private bathroom. Family atmosphere, home cooking and room with fireplace.
ESTANCIA CERRO GUIDO, recently renovated, this is a historic estancia. It offers tastefully decorated rooms, private bathrooms, wi-fi and laundry service (for a fee).
