Rancho, Salsa & Tobacco Adventure 2021
When Christopher Columbus landed there, he said: “it is the most beautiful island that the eyes of a human being have ever seen”. Based in a typical local rancho famous for the breeding of the Cuban Pinto, we will visit one of the wildest provinces of Cuba: Pinar del Rio. here there is the Viñales valley, a town famous above all for the landscape that surrounds it: large fields cultivated with tobacco, caves, underground lakes, an incredible abundance of flora and fauna. The most characteristic element are the “Mogotes”, hills with a unique appearance, which emerge from the surrounding plain. We will discover Cerro de Cabras, Hoyo del Guama, El Moncada, the Gran Caverna de Santo Tomas and the Isabel Maria Valley. At the end of this adventure on the saddle there will be a free day in the capital Havana, the mythical capital with a colonial style. Absolutely not to be missed- in the “vieja” area- is the Castillo de la Real Fuerza, dating back to the 16th century, which serves as both a fortress and as a maritime museum; the Capitol, an important monument dating back to the 1920s, the Baroque-style Cathedral of San Cristóbal and the Old Square, whose buildings reflect the city’s lively mix of architectural styles. An adventure that will allow us to immerse ourselves in Cuban culture to the rhythm of the clubs and hooves of our horses.

Arrival at Havana international airport, meeting with our correspondents and transfer to Pinar del Rio at Rancho la Guabina. Welcome cocktail, presentation of the horses, dinner and Cuban music.
After breakfast we will leave the rancho in the direction of Cerro de Cabras. On the way we will cross fields of tobacco and other crops typical of the region. Picnic lunch and return in the afternoon. Typical Creole dinner and overnight at the rancho.
After having breakfast, departure today for the Hoyo del Guama. Wonderful day in nature through varied vegetation. There will be the opportunity to swim in the river and meet local farmers. Picnic lunch and return to the rancho for a typical Creole dinner and overnight stay.
Today we will go to El Moncada which is located in the municipality of Vinales. It is the richest area from a speleological point of view, in fact we find the Gran Caverna de Santo Tomas, a monument of national interest, 17 km east of the town of Vinales. Picnic lunch and return to the rancho in the afternoon in time for dinner and overnight.
Today with our horses we will go to the Isabel Maria Valley, a beautiful route with varied terrain: mountainous stretches that alternate with summer pig farms. This area is surrounded by very atypical rock formations which are called "mogotes". Picnic and return to the rancho in the afternoon.
Breakfast and we will be on the saddle for the territories of Pastoreo and Presa Guama, areas of high landscape value. Picnic and return to the rancho in the afternoon.
After having breakfast, transfer to Havana. Free day, dinner and overnight at the Panorama Hotel.

SISTEMAZIONE:
6 notti al Rancho la Guabina, a soli 15 Km dalla città di Pinar del Río. È circondata da un bel paesaggio con montagne, valli e una laguna. Il luogo deve il suo nome a un pesce che abita il fiume e i laghi adiacenti.
L’antica casa di campagna, costruita all’inizio del XX secolo, è un luogo ideale per realizzare passeggiate, percorsi a cavallo, giri in carrozza e gite in barca nella laguna. Si può inoltre apprezzare il Rodeo offerto dai migliori vaquero della regione.
La proprietà comprende una casa con 5 camere e 3 bungalow indipendenti, un ristorante privato per gli ospiti, un grill e un bar. Il pranzo è offerto nel ranchón – una tipica costruzione cubana usata per mangiare all’aperto. La Guabina era originalmente proprietà di una famiglia spagnola ed è poi passata ai Ferros, una famiglia locale che ha preservato la zona e ne ha promosso le attività.
La Guabina è anche un ranch che copre circa 1000 ettari. La sua attività economica più importante e rappresentativa è l’allevamento dei cavalli delle razze Pinto Cubano e Appaloosa.
