Horseback riding through the great desert of Oman
Immerse yourself in the immense desert of Oman, a land of great equestrian traditions. Depart from the capital Muscat, to get to the Wahiba desert and the magical sea of golden sand and its dunes continuously modified by the wind. An adventure far from the West, where, in contact with the ancient Bedouin cultures and traditions, you will be imbued with the history of a country whose history dates back to 3 centuries BC.

Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, meeting with our correspondents and transfer to your Sawadi hotel (or similar) located in the old city.
If the arrival time allows it, we recommend visiting the Mutrah souk "Al Dhalam Souq", one of the oldest in the Arab world, the great mosque and the Sultan's Palace, Alam Palace and the Portuguese Fort. Dinner in a restaurant in the city and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast and transfer to Wadi Beni Khalid for a half day at sea. After having lunch with the vehicles ,we will go to the tented camp in Bidiya, where the horses and the staff, made up of Bedouin owners of the same horses and breeders who will follow you in the coming days, will be waiting for you. In Oman the tradition of flat racing is great as well as vaulting in line. The Sultanate of Oman is made up of a people of knights who love and respect their animals, which are part of the family. Dinner and overnight in a tented camp.
After having a healthy breakfast, you will be assigned the horses that will accompany you on this adventure. Soft first day to get familiar with your mount. Return to the camp in time to enjoy the red sand at sunset. Dinner based on a typical dish, the "Majboos", based on rice and red or white meat. Night in bivouac under the stars.
For the next 2 days you will ride in the "Wahiba" desert, which takes its name from the Bedouin tribes that inhabit it. Departure early in the morning in the immensity of this wind-sculpted desert, riding in a sea of golden sand away from everything and everyone. You will meet Bedouin tribes, whose houses are covered with palm leaves, unlike the Bedouins of Jordan who cover them with curtains. Here the breeding of dromedaries is very active, the price of which can be exorbitant if they manage to compete in the racecourses of the neighboring emirates. 4 Dinner and overnight in bivouac + 1 night in a guesthouse.

After having breakfast, transfer by public transport to visit the main town in the interior, Nizwa. The cattle market and the Fort, and then continue to the typical villages at the foot of the Hadjar mountains, immersed in the oases. We will then continue to Misfahed finally Muscat for dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After so many days in the desert today we will enjoy a beautiful ride on Omani beach. Dinner at the stables and night at the hotel.
After having breakfast, there is a guided tour of the city if your flight schedule allows it. Transfer to the airport.

EQUIPMENT: ENGLISH SADDLE with pockets
HORSES: PURE BLOOD ARABS or ANGLO-ARABIANS, selected for their resistance and adaptability to desert temperatures
GAIT: FROM 4 TO 6 HOURS PER DAY IN THE SADDLE (about 30 km). Continue at three gaits: the main gait is the step, but there will be trots and gallops where the sand is not too deep. The participation of the riders is required to saddle / unslate their horse. For safety reasons it is mandatory to wear a helmet and to respect the gaits decided by the guide at the head of the group who knows the terrain.

Traditional cuisine meals prepared by a local chef with fresh products. Water always available. The consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
Note: The itinerary described above is to be considered indicative. It may be subject to variations due to weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control. It is possible to participate even if you are not a rider, carrying out trekking or camel activities during the day and reaching the rest of the group in the evening.
Possibility to participate in the same itinerary in the reduced version of 8 days, returning to Muscat on the evening of day 7.
