The Atlas Mountains 2021
To the north-east of Morocco lies a mountainous front with an unmistakable charm: the Atlas range. Its biodiversity is unmatched, and tourists from all over the world choose it as half of their trips. Here the native fauna and flora abound, including interesting and absolutely harmless primitive primates. Come and discover this fascinating area from the top of the saddle of a beautiful Berber horse!

Arrival at Fes airport, self-transfer to Riad El Yacout.
Dinner at the hotel and overnight.
Breakfast and meeting with our guides at the reception. In the morning visit to the spectacular Medina of Fes, built in 808 by Moulay Idris II; the university, the colorful souk, the mausoleum and the huge mosque of Karaouin. Transfer of about an hour by car to the top of the Atlas. Picnic lunch and transfer to Ifran, a town built in the early 20th century by the French at 1700 above sea level. The horses will be here waiting for you. Dinner and overnight in a mobile camp set up just outside the city.
Breakfast and departure on horseback through this very green area, vast plains of lavender and forest, inhabited by monkeys and a myriad of birds. In the afternoon the vegetation will leave room for almost desolate valleys until evening, where we will camp near a source of water perfect for cooling off.
We will reach the Tchachoukt mountains, where we will climb up to 2000 meters to discover a beautiful view of the Gigou valley. We will pass the Ain Nokra river where horses can drink, canyons, valleys and large trees. Overnight in a tent.
We will gallop for a long time through the beautiful grassy plains that we will meet this morning, this is the land of nomads in fact there is no village nearby. After lunch we will stop near the Aguelmane Sidi Ali lake where you can swim with the horses. Here we will set up camp for the night.
We will leave the green area of the lakes today to enter the volcanic area of Bekrite. It will be incredible to see the contrast of the green blades of grass in contrast with the black lava stones. The camp will be set up near a river.
Today the cultivated and dotted agricultural areas of villages will alternate with wild areas with multicolored rocks. This will be a long day on the saddle. We will arrive at the Oum-Erbia river, a popular destination among local tourists, along whose banks there are various cafes and bars. Tent camp on the shores of Lake Ouiouane.
Breakfast and departure towards Zaouat through various forests. This quaint village has a beautiful waterfall with rocks covered with vegetation. Lunch by the river where you can also cool off. In the afternoon we will follow a track that will take us to Afnourir lake, where we will camp for the night.
Last day on the saddle. A series of increasingly dense villages indicate the return to civilization, up to the van, where we will greet the horses to return to Fes. Overnight in the Riad.
Breakfast and independent transfer to the international airport.

EQUIPMENT: ENGLISH TREKKING SADDLE with pockets for water bottles
HORSES: ARABI-BERBER, a cross that takes the best of the two breeds, light and resistant, it is an excellent horse to travel long distances even in desert temperatures.
GAIT: 6 to 8 hours in the saddle (up to 50 km per day). The three gaits will be used depending on the terrain, long gallops. The control of the horse in open spaces, a good physical condition is required; it may happen that it is necessary to lead your horse by hand.

ACCOMMODATION:
The 7 nights in a tented camp will be full of nature. Spartan tents with mattress (everyone must bring their own sleeping bag). At the edge of the field, a tent with a hole for the bathroom and shower will be erected where there were streams. Varied and abundant food cooked at the camp in the support vehicles. Picnic lunches will be carried in the saddle bags.
The first and last night will be at Riad El Yacout, in typical Moroccan style.
