The Orinoquia Nature Reserve 2021
We will travel about 180 km through the Orinoquia nature reserve which includes about 17,000 hectares. A region crossed by the Orinoco river and also known as the eastern plains, from the name given in ancient times by the Spanish colonists “llanos orientales”. We will ride at over 320 meters above sea level, in a real safari, through a vegetation that gives home to thousands of species of birds, jaguars, pumas and anacondas.

Pick-up from El Dorado International Airport and transfer to Bogotà with overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Hotel (or similar).
Transfer from the hotel to the airport in time for the domestic flight to Yopal; once landed, transfer to hato La Aurora, a typical Colombian structure, inhabited by the Jesuits at the time of the colonists. After having breakfast, we will be on the saddle for an outing of about 3 hours to admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight.
After having breakfast, departure for a day on the saddle: we will cross the Ariporo river to reach the Casanareñas area and then to the Babillas estuary, where we will see the caimans! Break for lunch before continuing to the Capibaras Lagoon and finally to Fundo, where we will have dinner and sleep in hammocks covered with mosquito nets.
After having breakfast on the saddle , we will return to the main farm: here we will see how horses work with livestock. This area is a reserve which, in agreement with the Pantera Foundation, protects felines; it is not uncommon to find footprints of jaguars and pumas on our paths. In the afternoon we will arrive at Juan Solito, an ecolodge where we will spend the night.
Today are looking for anaconda and we will reach "Caño el Indio" where you can also fish.
Breakfast and ride through the forest where we can admire the native flora. After about 3 hours we will say goodbye to the horses . we will sail the waters of the Ariporo river to “Caño el Indio”. Stop for lunch and in the afternoon we will return to Yopal for dinner and overnight.
After having breakfast we will visit a breeding of beautiful Paso Fino horses. break for lunch and before the transfer to Yopal airport, we will stop to visit a Creole saddle factory.

ACCOMMODATION: eco-lodge
EQUIPMENT: MCCLELLAN SADDLE (typical saddle used by the American Armed Forces during the civil war in the second half of the 19th century).
HORSES: COLOMBIAN CRIOLLO, all born locally, accustomed to the territories of the reserve
GAIT: 3 to 5 hours per day on the saddle. The gaits will be in relation to the equestrian level of the participants of the group.
TYPE : itinerant trekking with overnight stay in eco-lodge

1 night in a hotel in Bogota in a double room
3 nights in Hato Aurora, typical eco-lodge surrounded by a lush garden and facing the river (7 rooms with private bathroom)
1 night in the hammock
1 night in Yopal in a double room
Typical cuisine of fresh products, local wine included with meals.
On request it is possible to report special diets.
