Liguria: the Altavia of the 5 lands
Trekking on the Alta Via Dei Monti Liguri is a route along one of the internal stretches of the Apennines considered to be the most interesting and spectacular from a landscape, wildlife, and historical point of view. It winds on a set of paths in different hill and mountain environments that run through and cross the ridge of the Ligurian-Emilian Apennines until reaching the sea of the Cinque Terre.
The trekking is carried out by riding Bardigiana horses, particularly suitable for this type of route. Docile, resistant, and generous, these horses, originally from the Tuscan-Ligurian-Emilian Apennines, are ideal for crossing these lands enjoying the adventure but in complete safety.
Trekking on the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, for all its 140 km. it is made up of paths, mule tracks, and cart tracks that present some difficulties, so have some experience is important to participate. The paths wind through woods and streams typical of the Apennines. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to fully savor the beauty of the area: they ensure the best season for a trek in the woods and a great variety of colors, from the contrasts of greens to the endless blooms in spring, to yellows, the chestnuts, the reds of autumn. People who come to this part of the Apennines for the first time (from Val Taro to Val di Vara) are immediately struck by a pure and uncontaminated environment and by the luxuriant woods that cover all the slopes of the valleys.
But not only green of the woods: after leaving the paths of the Alta Via Dei Monti Ligure, and having crossed the Vara valley, climbing up the coastal ridge, here is the blue of the sea, one of the most fascinating seascapes in the world: the Five lands.

Independent arrival in the evening at the Carovane di Compiano farmhouse, meeting with the guides and assignment of the horse. Accommodation in room, dinner and overnight stay.
Departure from Compiano, continuation up to Passo Cento Croci, where lunch is served at the "Bio Bove" Hamburgheria. In the afternoon, after passing the Tre Confini pass (1400m.) we arrive in Chiusola at the "Gottero Ranch", dinner and overnight stay at the hotel "Cantarana" in Sesta Godano.
Departure from Chiusola in the direction of the coastal ridge, crossing the Vara valley, up to Mattarana, where we have lunch. In the afternoon we head towards Monte Bardellone where we have dinner and spend the night at the farmhouse "Gli Ulivi"".
Guided tour of the Cinque Terre by minibus for the whole day. Dinner and overnight stay at the Agritourism "Gli Ulivi".
From Monte Bardellone towards Alta via dei Monti Liguri, crossing the valley and fording the river Vara. Arrival in the evening at Casoni di Suvero, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel "Cuccaro Club".
From Casoni di Suvero the route runs along the Ligurian-Tuscan Apennine ridge on the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, and, crossing immense pastures, sweeps with a 360° view of Ligurian and Tuscan valleys and mountain ridges, including the Apuan Alps. Lunch at Zumzeri refuge, ski resort at 1450m. Descent towards the Alta Val Taro with arrival in the evening in Compiano at the Agriturismo 'Carovane' (Dinner and support notes available on request - extra charge).
