Rio / Sao Paulo: riding between plantations 2021
Although the San Paulo area is considered one of the main economic hubs of South America, it maintains a very multifaceted rural part, which thanks to its diversity deserves to be discovered in the saddle. We will cross historic coffee plantations, which since the middle of the last century have been producing the best qualities of beans in the world, thanks to dry winters and rainy summers. From the town of Mococa we will explore not only famous estates, but also dense forests with lush vegetation, plains, hills and ponds with transparent water.

Pick-up from Sao Paulo International Airport and transfer near the town of Mococa, to the Fazenda Nova where we will spend the night. If time permits we will take a short ride to get to know the horses.
After having breakfast we will start exploring the 120 acres of the fazenda estate on horseback. If we are lucky, among the vegetation of the Atlantic forest, we will be able to see monkeys and deer. Dinner and overnight at the fazenda.
We will leave the Fazenda Nova estate today to move further into the plantations: corn and beet for the most part. Stop for lunch in the shadow of the Fazenza Figueira, where there is a large herd of Mangalarga horses and Brazilian saddle horses. After lunch back on the saddle through immense coffee and orange plantations, until you reach Fazenda Serra de Santa Monica, an old restored farmhouse, for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast and in the saddle heading north towards the province of Minas Gerais, through sugar cane plantations and small farms owned by peasant families. We will cross the Canoas river and we will find ourselves in the typical hilly landscape that characterizes this area. Stop for lunch in Pedra Branca and then return to Santa Monica for a dip in the pool.
We will return along the road heading towards Fazenza Bocaina, which, as we will see, today is dedicated to the breeding of cattle and sheep and the production of milk. We will pass by Fazenda Lage, today a house-museum dedicated to the history of coffee, and then climb the hills, from which we will enjoy a particularly beautiful view of the area. Arrival in the afternoon for dinner and overnight in Fazenza Santo Antonio da Agua Limpa, where we will spend the next two nights.
The owner of the fazenda will be happy to show off his organic coffee crops before getting back on the saddle through other plantations and beautiful estates surrounded by forests and ancient trees.
Breakfast and last morning on the saddle for a final exploration of the surroundings. Transfer by public transport to the starting point of the trek, Fazenda Nova in time for lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to the international airport of Sao Paulo.
