The Routes of the Inca 2021

A journey into Inca culture and tradition… the discovery of the ancient colonial traces up to Machu Picchu. In the vast empire that once stretched from Quito (Ecuador) to Santiago (Chile) and Mendoza (Argentina), the Incas built a large network with the city of Cusco at the center. This itinerary is a special mix of nature, ruins and traditions.

1° day

ITALY / CUSCO (- / - / -)

Pick-up from Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) and check-in at the hotel in Cusco (expect to arrive by lunchtime, a support night is recommended if this is not possible). In the afternoon there will be a walking tour of the archaeological part of the ancient capital of the Inca Empire with its Sacsayhuaman ruins. Free dinner and overnight stay.

2° day

CUSCO/URUBAMBA (B/L/D)

Breakfast and transfer to the point where the horses await us. In the saddle through hills, passes and lakes. Break for lunch and then reach the famous town of Chinchero, 12,000 feet above the sea level, where we will leave horses. Transfer to Urubamba. Dinner and overnight.

3° day

URUBAMBA (B/L/D)

Breakfast and transfer to Chinchero, where the horses await us. We will ride passing beautiful views of the snow capped peaks of Vilcanota. Break for lunch and in the afternoon we will ride to Salineras, salt marshes still active today, a series of terraces fed by a single source of salt water. Possibility for those tired of returning to the hotel by public transport, otherwise we will ride along the valley to return to Urubamba for dinner and overnight.

4° day

URUBAMBA/OLIANTAYTAMBO (B/L/D)

Early departure to pass the picturesque village of Pichingoto and the magical Inca site of Moray and Maras. Fantastic day through archaeological sites of great interest that will take you back in time. Dinner and overnight in a neo-colonial style hotel in Oliantaytambo.

5° day

OLIANTAYTAMBO (B/L/-)

Breakfast and walking tour of the ruins of Oliantaytambo, considered the most beautiful example of Inca architecture, gigantic blocks transported there thanks to the Urabamba River. We will have time available to visit this beautiful complex and in the afternoon we will visit some buildings dating back to pre-Inca. Free dinner and overnight at the hotel in Oliantaytambo.

6° day

OLIANTAYTAMBO/CUSCO (B/-/-)

Breakfast and all aboard the magical train to Machu Picchu, along the way you will be accompanied by the colors and smells of rural Peru. We will arrive in Aguascalientes, the gateway to Machi Picchu. Free lunch and in the late afternoon we will return to Cusco. Free dinner and an overnight stay in hotel.

7° day

CUSCO (B/-/-)

Free day for relaxation, shopping and wandering around Cusco on your own. You will find a great variety of colorful souvenir shops and alpaca clothing. Free dinner and overnight stay.

8° day

CUSCO / ITALY (B / - / -)

Breakfast and transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Italy or to continue your journey (request a personalized quote).

ACCOMMODATION: hotel

EQUIPMENT: SOUTH AMERICAN TREKKING SADDLE WITH POCKETS

HORSES: CRIOLLO and PASO

GAIT: 4 to 7 hours per day in the saddle. Moderate speed with gallops where the terrain allows.

MINIMUM AGE : 15 years

TYPE : itinerant trekking with overnight stay in hotel

ACCOMMODATION:

Accommodation in a 3-star hotel. All located in areas of historical interest and with traditional decor.

Note: The itinerary described above is to be considered indicative. It may be subject to variations due to weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control.
