The Paleteadas , also called “corridas de rodeo”, are related to the world of breeding the criollo horse in Latin America , in particular Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. It is a competition that aims to test the skills of the criollo horse in its workhorse role with livestock. Discover now all our travels, tours, holidays and horse trekking in Brazil. During these competitions, their “vaquera” attitude is essentially evaluated: they must be fast, able to stop the calves and at the same time be docile in order to respond to the orders given in the best possible way. The test consists in stopping a calf running at full speed between two horses and keeping it in this position for 60 meters. The maximum achievable score in the well-executed test is 15 points, divided into 4 evaluation criteria. The most important competitions are the Freno de Oro, the Copa VW and the Copa del Mundo del Cavallo criollo.
